The Reggae Reggae Sauce story begins in Jamaica, where a secret recipe of herbs and spices was handed down from one generation to another. A young boy from Clarendon, Jamaica, learnt the secret in his grandmother’s kitchen 35 years ago. Today that young boy goes by the name of Levi Roots, musician, chef and Dragon Slayer. When Levi’s family moved to England and Levi was left with his grandmother, Miriam Small, in Jamaica, she taught him the magic of cooking; how to mix Caribbean flavours, as well as passing on all the subtleties of the plants, herbs and spices which she grew from her own garden. It was here that Levi Roots learnt to love natural ingredients and great Jamaican food.
Alongside cooking, Levi’s love of Reggae and Roots music brought him to perform with some of the greatest musicians - leading him to be nominated for the ‘Best Reggae Singer’ at the 1998 MOBO Awards. He never stopped making his grandmother’s jerk chicken sauce, perfecting and refining the secret recipe to create the taste sensation that we now recognise as Reggae Reggae Sauce.
